Resumen: |
Whidely regarded as Spain's leding abstract painter, Antoni Tápies was born in 1923 and spent his youth surrounded by the ancient walls of Barcelona at a time when the misery of civil war was disfiguring them with bomb craters and blood. From this destructive folly and the wreckage of society. Tápies has chosen to build literally friom the dust, from disitegration which contains the seed of life, a new elemental conception of reality. His method is simple and sensitive to basic principles concernig the ralations ship between matter, space, movement and the geometry of signs by which we internet them. He works with the skill of an artisan and the magic of an alchemist transforming the meanest rubbish into the substance of ideas, rich in potential inspiration. Tápies can lead us with the candour of a visionary from the slough of meaningless banalty to trascendental understanding of our human situation. |
